We're thrilled to welcome Larry Kingrey — another renowned and celebrated guide and tyer — to our Royalty Tyer/Designer roster. Larry brings decades of angling and tying experience to an already vast and impressive list of Umpqua designers. Among Larry's signature fly patterns are his Cap’n Hook, Kingrey’s Better Foam Caddis, Kingrey’s Bead Head Pupa and Kingrey’s Dry Ice Drake.

RENOWNED FLY TYER/DESIGNER KEN MORRISH, JOINS UMPQUA’S DISTINGUISHED ROSTER OF ROYALTY TYERS

Umpqua Feather Merchants is please to announce that renowned fly tyer/designer Ken Morrish has joined Umpqua’s team of Royalty Tyers. Ken is a fourth generation fly fisher who has guided throughout Alaska, Oregon, and California, he has taught hundreds of students the fundamentals of the sport, managed fly shops, consulted with leading fly rod manufacturers and designed an extensive line of popular fly patterns, including Morrish’s Mouse, Morrish’s Hopper, the Anato-may, the Iron Sally, and the Pom Skater.

Dennis Black Passes — A Sad Day for Umpqua Feather Merchants and the entire Fly Fishing World…

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that the founder of Umpqua Feather Merchants, Dennis Black, passed away this morning. An avid angler and gifted fly designer and tyer, Dennis had a profound impact on many of us here at Umpqua, as well as on the entire fly-fishing industry as a whole.

SUPER TYPHOON HAIYAN

Ever since Super Typhoon Haiyan unleashed its fury on Micronesia, Palau and the Philippines last week, the people of these areas have been in and remain in the forefront of our minds and hearts. We have been in frequent touch with our colleagues in the affected areas to see how they are faring and what we can do to help. We are relieved to hear that they are all accounted for and safe.

"UMPQUA DAY" IN LOUISVILLE!

Last Wednesday, March 13th, we hosted a little get together here at Umpqua Headquarters, to which we invited a wide variety of people to celebrate the launch of our packs and bags and Field & Stream's declaration of the Ledges 500 as one of their 2013 Best of the Best. What made this a bit out of the ordinary for us was the wonderful mix of attendees at the event. In addition to some of our local dealers, royalty designers, representatives from local conservation groups, we also had representatives from the City of Louisville Government.

A BADGE OF HONOR
