Dave McKee is one of the best guides in Montana, and these have become his favored, day–in–day–out flies. Always a fan of simple Girdle Bugs, he looked for new materials to design a similar style of fly that was much more imitative. The use of newer variegated chenille's and Silli Legs proved to be the ticket, lots of color variation and lots of sparkly motion from the legs. The flies just look like food. Also, Dave reduced the weight of this style of fly for a more active dead drift, to allow it to fish higher in the water column and in the shallows tight to the banks. So let's forget about the Madison and Yellowstone for a moment and ask ourselves, "What species of fish WON'T these catch?"
