"The Hocus Pocus Intruder pattern was born from my wife, Susanne’s traditional wet fly design, which is an extremely effective summer steelhead fly used for fishing at or near the surface in low light river conditions.
Because of its effectiveness, I decided to expand on the “Hocus Pocus” and developed it into a mini-intruder shank fly.
This intruder pattern was specifically designed for swinging flies deeper into the water column using light to medium sink tips.
Similar to the Hocus Pocus wet fly, the intruder version consistently delivers summer steelhead even when fished mid-day under bright sunny conditions.
Much to my surprise, a weighted version of this intruder also produces winter steelhead under certain river conditions … much as the name suggests it’s kind of like magic!"
