Author Carl “Boomer” Stout has been in the flyfishing industry for over 34 years, started guiding in Colorado in 1984. Guided in Alaska at Katmai Lodge for 4 seasons. After becoming a member of the G. Loomis Rod Co. pro staff he made many appearances in the International Sportman’s Expo Shows as a casting instructor/demonstrator & in the Master Tying theater.
Known in the industry as a fly designer of many popular / successful flies for Alaska, Bass, Pike, Steelhead & the Green River. At the present is a royalty tier for Umpqua Flies. The patterns he developed are some of the Green River standards. Boomer also has a passion for the Classic Full Dress Atlantic Salmon Flies.
Started working for Denny Breer ( Trout Creek Flies ) on the Green in the fall of 1989, has been there ever since. In the off season Boomer travels around the country as a guest speaker doing presentations about the Green river. His latest project was to write the chapter on the Green River for Terry & Wendy Gunns book 50 Best Tailwaters to Flyfish.
