About –
Brian started his career in fly fishing at the Blue Quill Angler in 2010. He is a Colorado native and went on his first fly fishing trip at age 12. Brian fished in his first fly fishing competition at the 2012 America’s Cup in Vail, and has been passionate about competitive fly fishing and European Nymphing techniques ever since. Brian is the instructor for Blue Quill’s European Nymphing clinics, and loves to share his knowledge and passion of the sport.
Favorite Fly – All time? Soft Hackle Pheasant Tail.
What elements make for a great fly – One of the biggest attributes I look for is versatility. This likely stems from a background in competition fly fishing. I like bugs that can mimic a variety of different insects. This allows them to be productive in a variety of water and weather conditions.
Who are your mentors in the sport – Steve Parrott, Kerry Caraghar, Pat Dorsey.
Philosophy on fly fishing – Part science, part art. Never stop learning and having fun.
