Dave Chouinard has dedicated his life to the sport of fly fishing. He started fly fishing and tying flies at the age of 9 and then at the age of 21, he opened his first fly shop in the northeast. The Fly Hatch, was well known as one of the finest fly shops in the country. Then, in 2008, he migrated south to Tampa, Florida and opened The Tampa Angler Fly shop and guide service.
After 20 years of fly shop ownership, Dave switched roles and started Chouinard Outdoor Associates, a leading fishing industry rep group in the southeast. Dave prides himself as a top industry casting instructor having conducted over 2000 individual casting lessons. He currently instructs advanced fly fishing and fly casting schools in the United States and in the Bahamas. Dave has been an active guide for over 25 years and has been designing and creating flies that catch fish since his early years. Dave is proud to be an Umpqua partner and Signature Fly Designer.
